I shoot a video everyday and get great results in my business by simply picking up my phone, shooting a 5 to minute video, then editing it just a bit on my computer, and posting it to my blog.

Tips For A Great Video:

1. Face the light – you want to be well lit, having the camera pointing at you and some source of light behind you will only make you dark.
2. Hold the camera very steady or place on a stand of some sort
3. Don’t pace around, dizzying your viewer with the constantly moving background
4. Speak loudly and clearly, especially if you’re not using a microphone (other than what’s in the phone)
5. Just pick up your phone and shoot a short video when the inspiration hits you
6. Keep videos short, concise, and interesting…I like 5 to 10 minutes myself
7. Don’t buy lots of fancy equipment, just use your phone
8. Don’t be scripted, just speak from the heart

Tools I Recommended In The Video Above:

Camtasia (by TechSmith): This is the program I use (on a PC) to edit my videos, splice multiple videos together, cut out bad parts of the video, and then process the video into an mp4 file. If you have a Mac, you’ll want to use iMovie.

You don’t need this to get all fancy with your video editing, just to do the basics.

EasyVideoSuite: This is a really sweet program that makes it SO simple to upload your videos to your own Amazon S3 account (instead of hosting on YouTube where your video can get flagged and removed). It automatically converts and optimizes your video for the best viewing on the web, and provides you all sorts of abilities to customize how your video appears. You’ll be able to choose the look of the player, have sharing buttons, overlay the video with your own watermark, create various shadows, and limit what sites the video can be streamed from. Also, Easy Video Suite will create a video page for you, with its own link you can share everywhere and get people to go watch your video.
